Consolidation of Mining Enterprises as a Chance to Make the Polish Mining Industry Profitable

Abstract

The aim of this article is to prove the eponymous thesis that the consolidation of mining enterprises and the integrated mana - gement system guarantee the profitability of the Polish mining industry. The evidence to validate this thesis includes the results provided by the post-optimal analysis developed as part of a production-rationalisation approach for the purposes of managing a coal company. Due to the broad scope of the issue, the paper presents one of several adjustments that would make it possible to adjust coal mine production and sales plans to real market situations both in terms of quantity and quality.
