The context of digital transformation in Vietnam presents significant challenges for spatial data acquisition in specialized corridor infrastructure projects, such as expressways, high - speed railways, and urban transit systems. Conventional surveying methods have demonstrated considerable limitations, particularly in terms of time efficiency and the safety of field surveyors. In response to these challenges, Mobile LiDAR technology has emerged as a promising solution for acquiring high - resolution point cloud data. This study evaluates the effectiveness of the Mobile LiDAR AU20 system by collecting spatial data to determine the geometric cross - sectional elements of the Cao Bo - Mai Son expressway, with the primary application being the generation of as - built Building Information Modeling (BIM) models and accurate geometric cross - sections. The findings indicate that the AU20 system not only meets all technical specifications required for terrain cross - section analysis but also offers significant advantages in automation, operational efficiency, and enhanced safety during the data collection process. The mean error and standard deviation of the data compared to control points measured by GNSS - RTK were 8 mm and 15 mm, respectively, confirming the technology's high accuracy and reliability.
