Abstract

The main aim of this article is to critically evaluate the possibility of using universal indicators of the effectiveness of machinery and equipment in coal mining. To achieve such aim the authors divided the article into four parts covering: (1) the introduction including justification for the specified subject of considerations, (2) the literature review in the field of measures used in assessing the effec - tiveness of machinery and equipment, (3) the critical assessment of the possibilities of using the presented indicators in coal mining industry that is perceived as an industry with untypical conditions of production, and (4) the summary containing key findings and directions for further research. The article was developed based on literature studies in the area of effectiveness of machinery and equipment and in the area of natural, productive and technical conditions of hard coal excavation.
