Abstract

The main objective of this study is to analyse the level of market concentration in the mining sector and determine its impact on key economic indicators. In particular, the study aims to answer the following questions: How have the indicators of sold production concentration evolved in recent years? What impact has market concentration had on employment and labour productivity in the Polish mining sector? The research is based on statistical data from 2016–2022, obtained from the Central Statistical Office of Poland (Główny Urząd Statystyczny). The analysis covers both the "Mining and quarrying" section and the "Mining of coal and lignite" division, revealing a growing market concentration, a decline in employment, and changes in labour productivity.
